Evaluation

2D Evaluation

for this project we were required to make a robot, we needed to make a model, texture and animate it. i didnt mind modeling it because i have used maya before, but i wasnt comfortable in texturing it.
for a pool of ideas i done some texture experiments, i turned a human arm into a bionic one and i dont a bit of photoshop experiments.
i started by making silhouettes and selecting the ones i liked the most, i then gave them form and sketched them out from there.
i liked the idea of using a monitor of some kind for the head, so i went with an old Television so it had a very fuzzy picture and the signal is quite weak so his face is very fuzzy and cuts out every so often.
i started with an old shed built, post apocyliptic robot made out of a TV, a car engine and a wheel. but then i decided i wanted something more futuristic. so i kept the fundimentals and added four legs asnd some weapons.
i think my final piece was quite sucessful because allthough i had to sacrafice quite alot of my originasl ideas i ened up with a satisfactory robot. i think i did a good job with my robots face, i made the face look more faded and like the TV cant get much reception.
i think for future projects, using the cel shaded method would be quite useful because i gives it the appearance of a comic book brought to life.

3D Evaluation

for my 3D model i used maya to create it, i was already familiar with this piece of software as i had used it for projects throughout this and last year.
the one problem i did come to was trying to make the screen of the TV. it was difficult because i couldnt find the ideal material for the texture. i eventually ended up with the ocean shader that made it seni-transparent and the shade of green i wanted.
I liked using Maya because i was already familiar with the porgramme so i could use it with ease
The process i used to create my model was developing the head and torso first, then i had to make the legs afterwards, then i needed to texture it. i used: specular maps, bump maps and transparency map.
