Cel Shading (Artist Interpritation)

This is my final concept but shaded using a method called "Cel Shading"

This makes the piece of work look less realistic and more like a cartoon.

I did this by marking out my robot with thick black lines, i then filled in all the main body parts with a light grey and then i shaded the right sections of the outline in a darker grey creating the illusion of shade and also form.

This shading method is used in multiple forms of media.
it is used in games such as:
Dragon ball Xenoverse
Naruto games
Borderlands 1 & 2

and in films and TV shows such as:
The Simpsons
Family guy
Archer

Ink painting of a secondary source

Real Life Robots

Industrial Robots

It’s an automatically controlled, multipurpose manipulator. These robots are used in the construction of motor vehicles and various other feats of engineering. The only problem with robotic construction projects is the lack of individuality. Some people may argue that the robots make precise copies of each object.

Exoskeleton

The main function for the exoskeleton is to boost the physical prowess of its user. It is made using motors, hydraulics for limb movement. This was primarily made for the military but commercialised for disabilities.

Medical Robots

This robot is focused on precision as it helps the surgeon in fine scale surgery. They can be controlled by the surgeon from a terminal in the room. The surgeon doesn’t have to necessarily be in the same room.

Robots in Games Research

if prototype lq-84i

LQ-84I is a quadrupedal AI, it has a neural system which allows it to learn. Its main occupation is to surpasss the standard cyborgs and combatants, as it is both stronger and faster than the two.

Gekko

these are Large unmanned autonomous fighting vehicle that was developed by the AT Corp

Mastiff

This robot is hulking and its hands are covered in armour, it has MK19 grenade launchers on its wrists. They were designed to replace standard inventory in the next-generation wars.

Grad

Grad is a Ukrainian unmanned gear.
It was made by the L.I Wisniowicki Machine Works Design Beureau in Dnipropetrovsk. It is referred to as a walking bunker. They were used in the Abkhazian Coup.

Metal Gear Ray (Unmanned Model)

Ray was an amphibious metal gear, it was designed by the US Marine Corps but then stolen by the patriots. Though it was officially made as a metal gear, it had no nuclear capabilities. It was used as an “anti metal gear”

Robots in film Research

Ultron

He was an AI peacekeeping program created by Hank Pym from a code derived from loki’s sceptre. He attempted to create a technological singularity by committing genocide against them. It is made out of the rare metal alloy adamantium.

Sonny

This robot was a modified version of the NS-5 robot; these robots are more intelligent and efficient with their work

T-800

This robot was made in the year 2029 by Skynet, its purpose was to kill Sarah Connor in 1984 to prevent her from giving birth to John Connor so he cannot start the resistance against Skynet. This robot was created to work independently without the help of humans.

Kryten
Kryten’s design is mainly plastic with mild organic elements, he was made to be a butler and his name refers to the butler in The Admirable Crichton.

Data (Star Trek)
He is an Artificial Intelligence designed and built by Doctor Noonien Soong, he is a self-aware sentient. He serves as the second officer and the chief operations officer aboard the Enterprise.
He also has a positronic brain.

Mood Board

This is my mood board.
i was drawn to these images because there creators made them purposely inhuman, giving them extra legs or bodies that are inspired by forms of insects.
